About Me

Yours truly.

Yours truly.

Hi, my name is Scott Brown. This is my first draft at an ‘about me’ section.

I’ve been an art director and a copywriter at some of the biggest and best agencies in the Midwest and now, the East Coast. I’ve also been a creative director, but there was a problem. I really didn’t know what a creative director was supposed to do. I mean, I’ve always know how to do the creative work MYSELF. I learned how to write comedy at the Second City, direct music at the Bloom School of Jazz, edit video at Protokulture but no one was teaching anyone how to direct creatives.

Most of the CDs I knew were fat, drunk and unprofessional. They killed work to suit their needs and spent more time pushing their own ideas and no time making sure their groups had what they needed to write the ads themselves. So, I knew I had to find a way to get an education on how to manage creative people and understand the creative process outside of just my own. In order to be a real leader, I couldn’t rely on ‘this is how we do it,’ or anecdotes from the few good creative directors I’ve encountered.

So I found the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and their Industrial and Organizational Psychology program. My concentration is consumer psychology. I will share with anyone who’s interested what I learn along the way. Hopefully, I won’t steer you wrong.

So, who am I? The good ‘drawer’ from high school? A guy with hardly any awards? Someone you’ve never heard of? All of the above. But one day, I’m hoping to become the Phil Jackson of creative. Stay tuned.
